About the Course

Teaching is a relational profession. Yet most behaviour management training focuses on strategies and systems - what to do to children - rather than helping teachers understand what behaviour is for. Beyond Behaviour: Seen, safe and ready to learn takes a different approach. Grounded in psychotherapeutic thinking but designed for the realities of primary school life, this six-session CPD course helps teachers develop a therapeutic lens on behaviour and classroom dynamics - without requiring any prior knowledge of therapy or counselling. This is a practical course focused on actionable learning that you can take directly into the classroom from week one. It is also a thoughtful one, because sustainable change in classrooms comes not just from new techniques, but from a shift in how we understand the children in front of us. Throughout the course, we address the reality that sits at the heart of every teacher's experience: there are 29 other children in the room. The therapeutic approach we explore is not about one-to-one counselling, it is about creating a classroom environment where every child can feel seen, safe, and ready to learn.
