Bereavement can profoundly affect a child’s emotional world, relationships, learning, and sense of safety. This session explores how Educational Psychotherapists can work therapeutically with grief and loss within educational and clinical contexts. Participants will reflect on trauma-informed approaches to supporting bereaved children and young people, while considering the emotional impact of this work within the therapeutic relationship.

Meet your trainer: Trina Sejournant

Trina Sejournant qualified as an Educational Psychotherapist in 2019. Having taught at a specialist school for children with Social Emotional and Mental Health needs for 10 years, Trina then took up the role of the school psychotherapist. Trina has extensive experience of working with children who have experienced developmental trauma, bereavement and loss. Trina also runs trainings for school staff on relevant topics such as Attachment, Theraplay, Drawing and Talking interventions, Bereavement, and sensory integration with the school's Occupational Therapist. She also supports staff and parents as part of the wellbeing team.
